Guyanese Supplier Development Platform

More local capability. Clearer opportunities. Stronger Guyanese businesses.

UniGas wants qualified Guyanese businesses to understand future requirements early, prepare for opportunities and compete through a fair, documented procurement process.

Last updated: August 2026

Important: Supplier registration does not guarantee an invitation, prequalification, contract award or minimum amount of work. Formal opportunities will state their own scope, criteria and submission process.

No fees and no favors: UniGas does not charge suppliers to register, receive a procurement notice or submit a response. No person may guarantee a UniGas contract or preferred treatment in exchange for money, gifts, favors, political support or personal relationships.

Why this platform

Local participation should mean more than a Guyanese address

Local participation should mean more than using a Guyanese address. It should create real work, build capability, strengthen safety and quality systems, and help Guyanese companies compete for increasingly technical assignments.

Identify local capability

The platform will help UniGas understand which Guyanese businesses can deliver the goods and services the project will need.

Communicate future demand

Potential procurement categories are published early so businesses can plan, invest and prepare.

Explain qualification standards

Safety, quality, technical and documentation expectations are explained before opportunities are issued.

One consistent channel

A single channel for procurement notices and supplier questions keeps the process documented and fair.

Register Your Business

No fees and no favors: UniGas does not charge suppliers to register, receive a procurement notice or submit a response. No person may guarantee a UniGas contract or preferred treatment in exchange for money, gifts, favors, political support or personal relationships.

Process

How procurement will work

Every procurement will follow a documented sequence so suppliers know what to expect at each stage.

  1. 1

    Register.

Provide accurate information about your company, ownership status, experience, workforce, certifications and capabilities.

  2. 2

    Screen.

UniGas may review registration information against relevant legal, safety, technical, financial and commercial requirements.

  3. 3

    Opportunity notice.

When an opportunity is approved, the platform will state the scope, eligibility, evaluation method, submission deadline and official contact channel.

  4. 4

    Evaluate.

Submissions will be reviewed against the published criteria for that procurement. Criteria may include safety, technical capability, quality, delivery, local value, past performance and total commercial value.

  5. 5

    Award and onboard.

Selected suppliers will complete contracting, compliance and onboarding requirements before work begins.

  6. 6

    Perform and develop.

Supplier performance will be monitored. Where practical, UniGas may provide briefings, feedback or capability-development activities tied to recurring needs.

Qualification

What UniGas will look for

Registration information and submissions may be reviewed against the following expectations.

  • Legal registration and authority to conduct the proposed work
  • Accurate disclosure of Guyanese ownership or Local Content Register status where relevant
  • Relevant technical capability, personnel, equipment and past performance
  • Safety, environmental and quality systems appropriate to the work
  • Ability to meet schedule, documentation and reporting requirements
  • Competitive total value, including quality, reliability, risk and lifecycle cost
  • Integrity, anti-bribery compliance and disclosure of actual or potential conflicts of interest
  • Commitment to lawful employment practices and respectful treatment of workers

Local Content Register

Where relevant, UniGas will ask suppliers to disclose Guyanese ownership and Local Content Register status accurately. Businesses can review the official national guidance on how to register.

Supplier development

Local participation and supplier development

UniGas intends to source from qualified Guyanese suppliers wherever they can safely, reliably and competitively meet project requirements. When a required capability is not yet available at the needed scale or standard, UniGas will seek practical ways to increase local participation over time, which may include:

Practical ways to increase local participation

  • Early visibility into expected procurement categories
  • Supplier information sessions and scope briefings
  • Clear explanation of safety, quality and documentation requirements
  • Reasonable packaging of work where it improves qualified local participation without increasing project risk
  • Joint delivery, mentorship or capability-transfer arrangements where appropriate
  • Constructive post-procurement feedback when practical and legally permissible

Standards are not lowered

Local participation will not override critical safety, technical, legal or performance requirements. The objective is to help more Guyanese companies meet those requirements and compete successfully.

Nothing on this page creates an obligation to award work, and no supplier-development activity is a commitment to a contract.

Integrity

Integrity and fair dealing

Suppliers, agents and UniGas personnel are expected to follow the same standards throughout every procurement.

No fees and no favors: UniGas does not charge suppliers to register, receive a procurement notice or submit a response. No person may guarantee a UniGas contract or preferred treatment in exchange for money, gifts, favors, political support or personal relationships.

Official channels only

Use only the official submission channel stated in the opportunity notice.

Conflicts of interest

Disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest.

No gifts or inducements

Do not offer gifts, payments or benefits intended to influence a decision.

Accurate representation

Do not misrepresent ownership, qualifications, staffing, experience or Local Content Register status.
